Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars is a simulation racing game which follows on from Ratbag’s previous title Dirt Track Racing. The sport of sprint car racing is among the most popular motor sports in the United States with over 700 tracks, and millions of spectators attending weekly race meetings.

Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars is the first game to capture the essence of sprint car racing. It realistically simulates the physics of these unique machines, with their distinctive angled wings and top speeds of up to 170mph.

Utilizing the original Dirt Track Racing engine and game shell, Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars features an all-new interface and an array of tuning and upgrade options. Players will be able to ’set up’ their cars to their preference, based upon track condition and grid position. Players will also be able upgrade their vehicles as they progress through the game.

“Grooves” of hard packed dirt form on the standard racing line. The groove is more slippery than the rest of the track. This creates more than one optimum racing line and adds an extra level of complexity. On asphalt tracks there is only one racing line.

The dirt or clay must be wet by a water truck to create sufficient traction for racing. However over the course of the night the track dries out and the water truck appears periodically to re-wet the track. The result is that each time one races in qualifying, heats and mains the track handles slightly differently. This may require adjustment in car settings and tactics.

As with Dirt Track Racing, players commence Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars with only a small amount of money to make their start in the racing world. By winning prize money and attracting sponsorship the player can upgrade their vehicle and better move through the range of series on offer. Players are able to pursue a ‘real racing career,’ making all the decisions that confront actual drivers.
