In the tradition of the multi-award-winning Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, rebel agent Kyle Katarn returns in exhilarating first-person action.

Eight years have passed since the end of Jedi Knight, in which the gruff mercenary turned Jedi Kyle Katarn avenged his fathers murder and defeated the evil Jerec in the very heart of the mystical Valley of the Jedi.

Hoping to keep himself from succumbing to the all-too-alluring power of the Dark Side assuming of course that you hadnt already chosen to do so in the open-ended game – Katarn then set aside his lightsaber and deliberately allowed his awe-inspiring grasp of the Jedi arts to wane and fade into virtual nothingness.

With his powers gone and his anger forgotten, Kyle once again found himself alongside his former partner, Jan Ors, as a well-paid mercenary in the services of Mon Mothma and the Alliance — often seeking out and destroying Imperial Remnants who still cling to overblown, maniacal dreams of power and intergalactic dominance.

This demo features a new level NOT found in the retail version of Jedi Outcast. In the demo, Kyle not only has access to five different weapons (Bryar Pistol, Stormtrooper Rifle, Flechette, Thermal Detonators and the Seeker), but he also has his lightsaber and various Force Powers including Force Jump, Push, Heal and Mind Trick.DEMO REVIEW
To my surprise, I found this game to be something much more than the usual demo. It works, for one thing. I have yet to find a problem, even after countless sessions.

The other element that keeps me coming back to it is the quality of the fighting portion. The full release of JK2 contained some rather ho-hum fight scenes, even at the highest difficulty levels.

The Reborns, who are basically Siths in training, are pushovers in the full release. A force choke and a light saber toss can take care of most of them.

The demo, on the other hand, is a very real challenge. The Reborn you fight here dont go down so easily. They will slice you up, should you try anything so mundane as a saber toss. You have to get down to some serious flips and jumps.

In the full version, force powers are pretty much unstoppable, especially in later levels. You can wave your hand at almost anything in the full version and take it out with little or no trouble. Not so in the demo. You might be lucky enough to trip one up with a force pull or push, but be prepared to swing that light saber. Real skill is needed. Your reward for these efforts are some kick-butt fight scenes that put Darth Vaders robot moves to shame.

For those who have cut their teeth on the full version and want something a bit more challenging, or people who want a taste of what JK2 can dish out, be prepared for a real test of your powers as a Jedi with this demo.
