The Thief series has had fans waiting and waiting for Deadly Shadows, and this demo is the first big sign that it is on its way. Made by the same people who brought you Deus Ex Invisible War, Thief�s game play may feel vaguely familiar to anyone who�s played IW. rnrnThe demo starts you off in a tutorial mission where you are lined up to complete simple objectives such as �walk past this guard without being seen�. rnrnI found this tutorial effective in teaching me the basics of the game, such as the manipulation of shadows or using your blackjack. One problem I did have though, was the lock picking. rnrnMy first attempt at this was discouraging, and took me 6-7 minutes to pick it, and find out that you can move your lock pick on a vertical axis as well as a horizontal axis (now I can lock pick like a pro!). But other than that, the game was fairly easy to get into.rnrnThe first complete level that the demo drops you into is (as we like to say in Boston) wicked awesome! There are tons of objects, and characters, to interact with and different ways to do just about anything. I would even go so far to say that the level design has improved since IW, which I am extremely happy to see. rnrnThis demo is a great preview of what the new Thief will be, and whether you�re a fan of the series or not this is a must download.rnrnDemo review by Jay Altschuler.
