ToCA Race Driver 2: The Ultimate Racing Simulator is a massive step forward from Race Driver. It offers a great selection of aspirational cars to be driven through 31 championships that cover a huge variety of motor racing styles.

ToCA Race Driver 2 contains the most diverse range of motorsports (including Open Wheel Grand Prix, Super Truck racing, Stockcar Oval Racing, Rally, Rallycross, Ice-Racing, Formula Ford, Classic Racing, Convertible Racing, Street Racing, GT Racing, and Performance Cars) ever seen in a racing game, including the DTM and V8 Supercars licenses.

The game features 35 high-powered, aspirational cars such as Aston Martin and Jaguar. The 31 Race Locations offer 48 tracks which provide the ultimate racing experience and are a combination of real licensed tracks and fictional tracks.

The immersive story line adds to the excitement by following the player’s progression through the ranks of the racing world. The reality TV style captures the competitive intrigue of 12 drivers battling their way to the top: driving for a Grand Prix team.DEMO REVIEW
Race Driver 2 is a pure driving simulator that marches to the beat of the same drummer as the Gran Tourismo series. It features a large collection of vintage & concept cars that you & I could never afford.

Three of these cars are available in the demo, including a classic Ford Mustang & a snazzy Jaguar Coupe. You can take these cars out for a road test on one of the two real-life courses that are selectable.

The game plays reasonably well save for one strange glitch; when you choose an automatic transmission, you must hold down both the accelerator AND the clutch in order to actually get the car to move. I was able to get around this problem by not assigning an input source for the clutch.

Also, be warned; this is a driving simulator, so youll need to be willing to put in a lot of time learning how to corner with whatever car you select. Casual racers need not apply.

The graphics are adequately detailed & polished. The car models are very accurate, & the light-sourcing shows off their wax jobs nicely. I was a bit under-whelmed by the track graphics, but only so much can be done to spruce things up when rendering with real-life locations.

This demo does everything it sets out to do well, and is worth your time to download if youre into realistic driving sims.
